From 00:00 to 24:00 on January 17, Xi'an reported 1 new locally transmitted case(found in the quarantined), and 73 patients were cured and discharged from hospital.

Since the latest COVID-19 outbreak, universities have imposed closed-off management one after another.  The good news is that several districts and counties in Xi'an were downgraded to low-risk areas and the epidemic situation started to improve. Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government announced that from January 10, 30 colleges and universities outside Xi'an in the province have broken up for winter vacation on after another; from January 16, colleges and universities in Xi'an started winter break in batches and in a staggered and orderly manner.

Up to Jan.18, a total of 25 universities based in Xi'an have started winter break. Let's take a look.  

Northwest A&F University

Winter break: Jan. 15-Feb. 18

Enrolment: back to university and register on Feb. 19 and Feb. 20, classes start on Feb. 21(Monday).

Staggered leaving time: Senior undergraduate and all graduate students—January 15-16;The rest—January 17-18

Xi’an Shiyou University (Huyi Campus)

Winter break: January 17, 2022 - end of February (The exact time for new semester will be announced later, and students are not allowed to go back school in advance)

Since January 17, all kinds of teaching activities have been suspended and students are arranged to leave school in batches and in a staggered manner.

PS: The winter break of Yanta and Mingde Campus of XSYU haven't been announced yet.  

Shaanxi University of Technology

Winter break: Jan. 15-Feb. 18

Enrolment: back to university and register on Feb. 19 and Feb. 20, classes start on Feb. 21(Monday).

Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine

Winter break: Jan. 17 (Mon.) to Feb. 25 (Fri.)

Enrolment:  back to university and register on Feb. 26 and Feb. 27, classes start on Feb. 28 (Monday).

Xi’an Peihua University

Winter break: Jan.10-Feb.25

Enrolment: back to university and register on Feb. 26 and Feb. 27, classes start on Feb. 28 (Monday).

Xi'an Jiaotong University City College

Winter break: Jan.17-March.11

Enrolment: back to university and register on March 12 and 13 (weekend), classes start on March.  (Monday).

Northwestern University

Winter break for students: Jan. 22-March 4

Enrolment: back to university and register on March 5 and March 6, classes start on March 7 (Monday).

Note: Those arrangements will be adjusted timely according to the needs of epidemic prevention and control requirements.

                       

         

On January 16, students from the Weiyang campus of Xi'an University of Technology arrived at the high-speed railway station, railway station and airport via coaches arranged by the university. They were among the first batch of students from low-risk areas in Xi'an who started to leave school and return home.

         

On January 17, 150 students boarded Flight HU7266 from Xi'an to Haiko, the first charter flight guaranteed by Xi'an Xianyang International Airport for students, and started their journey back home. The 150 students on the charter flight came from  Xi'an University of Science and Technology, Xi'an University of Technology, and Xi'an Medical College.

         

At 4:00 a.m. on January 17, railway stations witnessed the first peak of students returning home for the Spring Festival. On the first day of Chun Yun (the annual travel season around the Spring Festival), Xi'an stations (including Xi'an Station and Xi'an North Station) is expected to send 85,000 passengers, and the passenger flow is increasing.
