According to the "2024 New Year Holiday Travel Insight" released by Trip.com Group (the major online travel service provider in China), as of December 18th, the number of travel orders to Xi'an for the 2024 New Year holiday increased by 395%, compared to the previous year. The top 5 cities with the most tourists traveling to Xi'an during the New Year holiday are Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Changsha, and Shenzhen.

Although the holiday only lasts for 3 days, the enthusiasm for travel among young people is exceptionally high. According to the report, for the 2024 New Year holiday, the main travelers will be the post-2000s, post-1990s, and post-1980s, accounting for 33%, 33%, and 23% respectively. The vigorous post-2000s have become the absolute major travel group for the upcoming New Year's holiday.

As young people become the major traveling group, they focus more on meaningful events to celebrate the new year, such as climbing high and welcoming the first rays of sunshine of the new year. The report shows that keywords such as "mountain coated with golden sunlight" and "climbing high" have gone viral, and the search rate for hotels in mountainous scenic areas is always high. The major group of climbers are the vigorous post-2000s. 

The brilliant fireworks and lights usually bring the ecstasy of New Year's Eve to its peak. At the year's end, major scenic spots and theme parks often host grand fireworks and light shows. According to the report, the pre-booking volume of theme park tickets for New Year's Day in 2024 has increased by 4.5 times compared to the previous year.

This year, more people find joy in concerts. The report shows that for New Year's Day of 2024, hotel bookings near venues of concerts and music festivals have increased compared to the same period in 2022 and 2019. 

Outbound skiing travel during the New Year holiday is also very popular. Since this December, on Trip.com, orders for outbound skiing-related products have increased by 460% compared to the previous month. Popular destinations are Japan, South Korea, and Finland. In addition, seeing the northern lights near the Arctic Circle has become a new trend for celebrating the new year. The report shows that the number of orders for trips to Finland and Sweden to see the northern lights has increased by 73% and 10% respectively compared to last month.
