Xi'an Beilin Museum expansion and renovation project is located north of Sanxue Street in the Beilin District of Xi'an. It consists of three separate buildings—the east, west, and north sections—with a total construction area of 71,272 square meters. The building has 2 floors above ground and 3 to 4 floors below ground, with an excavation depth of up to 22 meters.

The project includes a central core area, a surrounding peripheral area, and an underground corridor. The planning and design are inspired by the traditional spatial layout that has been prevalent since the Song Dynasty, characterized by "surrounding corridors and pavilions with steles in the center." This design is seamlessly integrated into the structure of the old urban area.

Upon completing the project, the exhibition area will triple in size, increasing the number of cultural relics on display to over 1,400 items, thereby providing better protection and display of the museum's collection.

The new museum building aims to showcase the cultural heritage of Xi'an Beilin Museum, Xi'an Confucian Temple, and the Ming Dynasty city walls, emphasizing the value and appeal of the Beilin cultural legacy.

Expanding the exhibition halls will allow for a more focused display of cultural relics that reflect Silk Road culture, such as the "Da Qin Nestorian Stele" and the "Pagoda Inscription Stele", both of which are national treasures in the museum's collection. This enhancement can significantly contribute to the cultural exchange fostered by the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Xi'an Beilin Museum expansion and renovation project is scheduled for full completion by March of next year.
