Today, the T5 terminal of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport officially started operations at 0:00. At 0:07, China Eastern Airlines flight MU2204 landed smoothly in Xi'an from Kashgar. The brand-new bridge at the T5 terminal welcomed the first group of passengers, marking the beginning of public service at the new terminal.
The world's first local cultural relics exhibition museum in the T5 terminal will soon launch its commissioning, and is scheduled to open to the public on February 26, with the ticket reservation platform to open on February 23.
The China West Airport Museum features Tang-style architecture and is the world's first museum in an airport terminal housing local cultural relics. It primarily showcases archaeological findings from the construction of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, highlighting the history of the Silk Road and ancient Chang'an through various unearthed relics while sharing in-depth historical stories with the public.
Basic Exhibition: Sifang Pavilion
The main hall of the basic exhibition is the Sifang Pavilion, named after the diplomatic offices of the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The exhibition focuses on 121 cultural relics, mainly unearthed from archaeological excavations at the airport over the years, connecting the thousand-year-old civilization of the ancient capital. The 400-square-meter exhibition hall allows the audience to shuttle through historical time and space and appreciate the prosperity and glory of the thousand-year-old capital.

The Treasure Pavilion showcases key cultural relics from Shaanxi, starting with the national treasure——the bronze ritual vessel Qingongbo from the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 B.C). Its impressive design is crucial for understanding the Qin State's history and culture, earning it the title of "the entrepreneurial history of the Qin State engraved on bronze." The 88-square-meter pavilion features holographic projections for a 360-degree view of the inscriptions, complemented by interactive touchscreens for detailed interpretation.
Temporary Exhibition
The museum also features two temporary exhibitions. One focuses on the intangible cultural heritage of Xianyang tea production and the Silk Road, promoting "black gold" tea globally. The second one showcases airport cultural relics, connecting them with modern life through interactive activities like tea tasting and creative expressions, while supporting Shaanxi's cultural and creative industries.
