As China's first comprehensive museum fully showcasing the ecology and culture of the Qinling Mountains, the Qinling Museum opened to the public during this Chinese New Year and had welcomed a cumulative 158,400 visitors by February 19th.

The Qinling Museum, located at the base of Jinfeng Mountain in Shangluo City, stands out with its architectural look, which is inspired by its most treasured artifact——"Yazhang" from the Xia Dynasty.

The museum's architecture subtly incorporates oracle bone inscriptions. Its impressive 38-meter-high atrium is shaped like the oracle bone character "Shang(商)". The museum boasts a total floor area of 44,000 square meters. Upon the opening, it becomes another significant cultural landmark in Shaanxi.

Featured exhibition areas

The 4th to 6th floors convey the core exhibition areas of the museum, displaying over 1,500 exhibits that create a three-dimensional representation of the Qinling Mountains.

Picturesque Qinling Central Mountains

The Qinling Mountains, formed between 400 and 200 million years ago, act as a natural boundary between northern and southern China. They stretch over 1,600 kilometers from east to west and span more than 200 kilometers from north to south. Their unique topography and climate create a diverse environment, making them a natural "biodiversity gene bank". This exhibition area uses videos, panels, and physical specimens to highlight the geological evolution, natural landscape, mineral resources, and flora and fauna of the Qinling Mountains from a geographical perspective.

Historic Qinling Ancestral Heritage of the Chinese Nation

From the perspective of history and humanities, this exhibition area displays the million-year human history, 10,000-year cultural history, and 5,000-year civilization history in the six provinces and one city of the Qinling Mountains (Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Henan, Hubei, and Chongqing), as well as the ancient Qinling Road Xiongguan, the ancient towns near the commercial port, water transportation and warehousing, and the core ideas, craftworks, and artistic aesthetics of the Chinese nation.

In the cultural and creative areas on the first and fourth floors, cute and exquisite cultural and creative products are very characteristic of Qinling culture, meeting the diverse needs of the audiences.
