Recently, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) announced the winners of the 2025 ICSC Global Design & Development Awards.

Established in 1957, ICSC is the world's largest professional retail real estate business association and a highly regarded global industry organization with extensive international influence.

Xi'an Livat, an acclaimed commercial complex funded by Fortune 500's Ingka Group, boasts a 4.3 billion yuan investment and spans 320,000 square meters. It was the largest foreign-invested commercial project in Shaanxi, serving as a significant venture at the provincial and municipal levels.

Xi'an Livat was designed to meet Green Building Two-Star and LEED Gold standards, embracing sustainability throughout. It operates on a 100% renewable energy system using ground-source and air-cooled heat pumps, supplemented by 2,600 roof photovoltaic panels generating 1.45 million kWh annually, equivalent to 100,000㎡ of afforestation and cutting carbon emissions by 1,000 tons, establishing itself as a "breathing" green urban landmark.

Xi'an is actively building an international consumption hub, where shopping centers have evolved beyond retail to drive economic growth and serve as versatile platforms for urban development, culture, and sustainability.

In the past year, several newly established projects in Xi'an have also won international awards.

In October 2025, the Global Future Design Awards (GFDA) announced its annual winners, with Dongfang High Street at Sihai Chinatown Commercial Center securing the Gold Award.

Driven by its population, purchasing power, and transportation advantages, Xi'an launched 11 new commercial projects in 2025, contributing 735,000 square meters of commercial space—representing 53.3% of all new commercial development in Northwest China.

Xi'an's commercial sector is evolving from isolated hubs to interconnected zones. Leading complexes are integrating culture, green practices, and mixed-use models into urban development, actively advancing the city's sustainability goals.
