The World Cup has been underway for over a week, drawing football fans out of their homes into lively offline viewing spots across the country. To help fans catch all the action, Amap has released a World Cup Watching Guide, featuring nearly 500 fan-friendly eateries across 31 Chinese cities. The buzz is already paying off—orders at the listed locations have jumped by 170%, showing how the tournament's excitement is turning into real revenue for brick-and-mortar businesses.

Amap/Gaode: China's leading digital map and navigation service provider.

Launched on June 11, the guide selects venues based on three strict criteria: top navigation traffic over the past year, business hours extending past 2 a.m., and dedicated viewing screens. From craft beer bars in Beijing and seafood stalls in Dalian, to hot pot skewer shops in Chengdu and ocean-view diners in Shenzhen, every city boasts ideal spots to catch the games.

Amap data shows the top ten cities with the sharpest week-on-week rise in nighttime searches and navigation activity during the World Cup opening week are Beijing, Dalian, Tianjin, Harbin, Wuhan, Xi'an, Shenyang, Taiyuan, Hefei and Chengdu.

Since the ranking went live, daily searches for the keyword "World Cup" on Amap surged 278.8% week-over-week, driven by the guide's targeted recommendations—which quickly translated into a tangible lift in offline spending. On the opening night after 10 p.m., foot traffic at listed venues rose over 62% week-over-week, order volumes soared 170%, and total in-store spending climbed 131.8%, underscoring the tournament's powerful ripple effect on local businesses.

To ride the World Cup spending wave, many venues have rolled out themed set menus—seafood feasts, barbecue platters, and beer pairings. Barbecue leads late-night fan favorites with a 48.7% sales spike, while fast snacks, crayfish, and hot pot each grew over 25%. Skewers, cold beer, and live screens: this summer's ultimate game-day trio.
