On September 8, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) released its 2026 ranking of the world's top 100 innovation clusters. China has retained the largest number of clusters on the list for the fourth consecutive year.

全球百强创新集群中，中国共有25个集群上榜，比去年增加1个。美国位居第二，共有20个集群上榜。随后依次为德国（7个）、英国（4个）、印度（4个）、日本（3个）、韩国（3个）和加拿大（3个）。

A total of 25 Chinese clusters made it to the top 100 list, one more than last year. The United States ranks second with 20 clusters. It is followed by Germany (7), the United Kingdom (4), India (4), Japan (3), the Republic of Korea (3) and Canada (3).

排名全球前15位的创新集群依次为深圳—香港—广州、东京—横滨、圣何塞—旧金山、首尔、北京、上海—苏州、纽约、伦敦、波士顿—坎布里奇、巴黎、大阪—神户—京都、洛杉矶、杭州、圣地亚哥、南京集群。

The world's top 15 innovation clusters are Shenzhen–Hong Kong–Guangzhou, Tokyo–Yokohama, San Jose–San Francisco, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai–Suzhou, New York, London, Boston–Cambridge, Paris, Osaka–Kobe–Kyoto, Los Angeles, Hangzhou, San Diego and Nanjing.

About the Ranking of the World's Top 100 Innovation Clusters

世界百强创新集群排名是世界知识产权组织《全球创新指数》的组成部分，每年发布，该指数现已更新至第 19 版。《全球创新指数》对全球近 140 个经济体的创新表现进行排名，而创新集群排名则聚焦各国国内的次区域层面。榜单采用自下而上的分析方法，跨越行政与政治边界，筛选出全球发明人、科研论文作者、风险投资活动集聚度最高的地理区域。

The Ranking of the World's Top 100 Innovation Clusters is published each year as part of WIPO's Global Innovation Index (GII), now in its 19th edition. While the GII ranks the innovation performance of nearly 140 economies, the cluster ranking looks below the national level. Using a bottom-up method that looks beyond administrative and political borders, it identifies the geographic areas with the world's highest density of inventors, scientific authors and/or venture capital activity.

百强榜单由三项指标评定：依据世界知识产权组织《专利合作条约》（PCT）提交的专利申请中所列发明人的所在地、已发表科学论文作者的所属机构，以及获得风险资本融资企业的所在地。

Three metrics determine the top 100: the locations of inventors listed in patent applications filed under the WIPO Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the affiliations of authors of published scientific articles, and the locations of companies receiving venture capital funding.
