From crafting functional lighting to sparking creative ideas, Chang'an Time·Bulb Factory Lit, a revitalized former factory cultural hub on Xianning East Road, has officially opened in Xi'an.

Chang'an Time·Bulb Factory Lit occupies the site of the Xi'an Bulb Factory, established in 1970. At its peak, more than 1,400 workers manufactured electric light sources here. Its "Starlight" bulbs illuminated countless homes, leaving cherished memories of Xi'an's industrial age.

Production lines fully halted in 1996, leaving the red-brick site dormant for 30 years. Following careful restoration with minimal intervention, this urban renewal project retains red-brick workshops, chimneys, water towers, steel beams and vintage machinery. It brings in smart digital content sectors and experiential retail, turning the old factory into a creative hub that blends light-and-shadow digital industries, cultural experiences, and community space—a striking transition from "making bulbs" to "generating inspiration".

The opening event brought a host of offline experiences. The Unplugged Inspiration Market kicked off, featuring handmade crafts, specialty coffee, craft beverages and cultural merchandise. It drew crowds of young visitors who wandered and checked in, unveiling a brand-new leisure destination in eastern Xi'an.

More highlights await visitors over the National Day holiday. Outdoor theatrical parades and Chinese IP-themed photo spots will be available at Bulb Factory Lit. Blending traditional Chinese IP with industrial architecture, these trendy spots make the site Xi'an's new holiday destination.

Going forward, balcony concerts, inspiration-themed markets and charity art exhibitions will become regular events, bringing fresh energy to every weekend.

Meanwhile, the project will add supporting amenities: youth apartments, community centers and lifestyle markets. It will foster a digital light-and-shadow industry cluster for short dramas, short videos and AIGC, and upgrade consumer spaces to serve entrepreneurs, young visitors and local residents alike.

From producing beams of light to igniting countless inspirations, the revitalized Bulb Factory Lit will keep nurturing creative vitality and inject fresh momentum for urban renewal into eastern Xi'an.
