"Helping students realize their dreams is my 'Chinese Dream'," said Bhrigu Shankar Deka, an Indian now teaching economics at Xi'an Gaoxin No 1 High School in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

In 2004, Deka came to South China University of Technology in South China's Guangdong province for further study as an exchange student, and has now lived in China for 18 years.

He met his wife, a Xi'an local, in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province in 2006.

Deka and his wife lived in Nanjing for seven years before moving to Beijing for work. In 2015, they decided to bring their children back to Xi'an to live.

After settling down in Xi'an, Deka became enthralled by the various historical sites and cultural relics.

"What impressed me the most was Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum. It was the crystallization of the wisdom of the Chinese people more than 2,000 years ago," Deka said.

"Xi'an's mutton steamed buns, cold noodles and biangbiang noodles are so delicious. Aside from the delicious food, the city of Xi'an has many other unique charms. This place is simply a paradise for anyone looking to learn Chinese history."

Deka is also proud of teaching at Xi'an Gaoxin No 1 High School. The school often holds international activities so that children can gain an international perspective and step onto the international stage.

Deka said that Xian's rich history and strong development momentum give it a large presence on the international stage, and he is looking forward to making his own mark on the city.
