Xi'an establishes third foreign expert bookstore

The third foreign expert bookstore in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, was recently launched in the Qujiang New District.

This is also the first foreign expert bookstore in the district. It aims to provide a comfortable reading environment and free lending services for foreign experts, foreign friends and students in China. It also aims to show a true and comprehensive picture of the country to expats.

The bookstore is also seen as being significance for promoting international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation in Xi'an.

The international exchange, cooperation and intelligence introduction office of the Xi'an Science and Technology Bureau presented a book on the launch day to Burnett Ruan. He is from South Africa who teaches at Detai Qujiang International Kindergarten in Xi'an.

"The bookstore has shortened the distance between us and knowledge," he said. "In the future, I will make good use of the bookstore to deepen my understanding of Xi'an and China".

The bookstore has nearly 2,000 books in Chinese, English, Russian, French, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic and other languages.

By carrying out activities such as reading clubs, symposiums and lectures, the bookstore is also expected to provide a place for expats to relax and communicate.

The other two foreign expert bookstores in the city are located at the Xi'an Liangjiatan International School and the Xi'an Branch of Chinese Services International.
