Transportation fare cards featuring cultural relics

The culture of a city can penetrate into various aspects of people's lives, and the cultural stories of the city can be conveyed through multiple carriers. In recent years, Xi'an has launched a series of fare cards themed with cultural creative elements, which well disseminate the city's culture in people's daily life.

Paper-folding Fan Fare Card

The local public payment company Changantong launched three types of paper-folding fan fare cards, acquiring great popularity. While featuring a traditional vibe, this "fare card" can be used for taking buses and the metro, also available to use in more than 300 cities in China. 

Imperial Seal Fare Card

The design of the card was inspired by the seal of Empress Lü Zhi in the Western Han Dynasty. The card replicated the original cultural relic in a 1:1 ratio, with the characters "皇后之玺" (Seal of the Empress) printed on the bottom. Every time you enter or exit a subway station, it feels like stamping a seal.

Du Hu Fu (commander's tally) Fare Card

The card is based on the cultural relic Du Hu Fu (commander's tally), originating from the Warring States to the Qin Dynasty. It resembles the texture of bronze. This unique gadget can be separated into two parts, each of which can be used as a fare card. When the two pieces are combined, here comes the complete Du Hu Fu.

Octagonal Mirror Fare Card

The card takes inspiration from the shape of the octagonal mirror from the Tang Dynasty, presenting a lovely bunny to commemorate the Year of the Rabbit.

Group Portrait of Noblewomen Fare Card

The inspiration for this fare card comes from the famous painting of the Tang Dynasty—— Group Portrait of Noblewomen. The lovely and rounded figure of the court lady is particularly endearing.

Shaanxi History Museum Fare Card

This fare card series features wondrous treasures from the Shaanxi History Museum. It is of high collection value, also can be used as the fare card in more than 300 cities in China.

These featured fare cards showcase the rich historical and cultural heritage of Xi'an, also imbuing people's daily commute with a sense of ceremony.
