On Nov 27, to further promote cultural exchange and enrich the extracurricular activities of Chinese and international students, the School of Literature at Xi'an University organized a friendship event by Jinghu Lake on campus. It was also during the period of celebrating the Loy Krathong (water lantern festival) in Thailand. 

International students from the Sripatum University and Phuket University of Thailand celebrated their traditional festival with performances such as dance, Muay Thai, and Thai songs, passing their warm wishes. The graceful dance moves, powerful martial arts, and melodious singing of the international students triggered thunderous applause from the audience.

After the featured performances, the students took out the prepared materials and began making water lanterns. Igniting the red candles on the water lanterns, the students set them afloat on Jinghu Lake, wishing everything would go well in the coming year.

This event showcased the customs and traditional culture of Thailand, deepened the mutual understanding and friendship among Chinese and Thai students, and promoted cultural exchanges between the two nations.

According to the Thai tradition, the Loy Krathong is celebrated every November. On the festival night, waters in both urban and rural areas are adorned with floating water lanterns, with candlelight dancing on the ripples. Young men and women joyfully usher in a harmonious night with the lively tunes of the featured festive song.
