On December 3, 2023, the final of a modeling contest featuring Hanfu was held in Xi'an, which was hosted by the renowned Chinese Internet company Sohu. Contestants from various regions of China gathered at the Daming Palace National Heritage Park to perform Hanfu shows, presenting a splendid feast of traditional Chinese culture.

"The gathering of contestants from various regions of the country at the Daming Palace National Heritage Park is a grand ceremony, also a tribute to the traditional Chinese culture." Zhang Chaoyang, founder, chairman, and CEO of Sohu, shared, Xi'an, the ancient capital of the Han and Tang Dynasties, boasts a rich history. This contest helps Hanfu enthusiasts experience being Tang people and travel back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty.

During the first 8 months of the contest, the number of participants exceeded 6,000. During the final competition, contestants competed in three rounds, showcasing their elegance, characteristics, and on-the-spot performance through various talents such as catwalk, dance, traditional Chinese opera, and martial arts, which demonstrated the diversity of Hanfu to the audience.

The judges evaluated based on the contestants' appearance, posture, catwalk, stage manner, charm, posing, stage performance, and costume matching. After three rounds of rigorous selection and competition, the top three winners were determined.

Fascinating scenes on site

Lou Yixiao, the featured guest of this event and well-known actress, said that she often encourages her friends and family to wear Hanfu on her birthday and other gatherings or traditional festivals.

"Two or three days before coming to Xi'an, I have been saving room, for Xi'an is the city of carbs. Since I came here, I was really busy enjoying delicacies." Guan Ling, actress and the event host, said, "In the museums of Xi'an, I saw many precious artistic works. I also discovered that in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, chubbiness was considered beautiful."

"Nowadays, wearing Hanfu and taking photos in Xi'an has become one of the must-do activities for many tourists. I think taking photos in ancient costumes here would not attract too many surprised looks from the people passing by. We can present what we want comfortably here." Wei Ran, a young actor and native of Xi'an, said.
