On December 20, the release ceremony of the 2023 China Women's Basketball Annual Partner Conference and FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 (China Region) was held in Beijing. The Chinese Basketball Association officially released that Xi'an will host the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024.

Yao Ming, President of the Chinese Basketball Association, said in his speech that 2023 is a fruitful year for the Chinese women's basketball team, who won both the Asian Cup and the Asian Games, also showcasing their spirit of women's basketball.

As the first international competition to be held in Shaanxi Province in 2024, the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 will be held at the Shaanxi Province Stadium from February 8 to February 11, 2024. According to the game rules, the top two teams in the tournaments, other than the host country, France, will qualify for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.

In September 2023, according to FIBA, China will be one of the four host countries for the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024.

Many cities responded actively to host the tournaments, carefully researching the specific standards and requirements and submitting bid reports. After multiple rounds of coordination, communication, and on-site inspections, Xi'an finally became the host city for the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 (China Region).
