The tourism phenomenon triggered by Harbin, the ice city in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, shows no sign of abating and most recently its popularity has led to a fierce competition among tourism authorities in several Chinese cities. They frequently release promotional videos and seek celebrity endorsements to enhance tourism in their respective hometowns.Shaanxi (the official Douyin account of Shaanxi Culture and Tourism specifically) also joined this cyber competition recently, continuously releasing featured cultural and tourism videos, which went viral online quickly.

The "Kemusan" (or "Subject Three") dance originated from a lively wedding celebration in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. Later, "Kemusan" became well-known online and ignited a national copying fad.

Starting from January 13, the official Douyin account of "Shaanxi Culture and Tourism" has been accelerating the production of short videos. Twenty-two short videos were released on January 13 and twenty-four were released on January 14. In just two days, the number of fans for "Shaanxi Culture and Tourism" increased from 579,000 to 665,000, an increase of 86,000 people.Aside from the "cyber promotion", actual benefits were also provided to tourists coming to Shaanxi.

Till January 31, for Huashan Mountain Scenic Area, entry will be free of charge (excluding tickets for shuttle bus and cable car), and tourists can make reservations online one day in advance.

Till January 31, for Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area (Shaanxi side), entry will be free of charge, and tourists can make reservations online one day in advance.By releasing creative short videos, cultural and tourism departments are able to present their local customs, cultural traits and attractions to a broader audience, ultimately enhancing tourists' travel experience and satisfaction.
