Following the end of the Spring Festival holiday, employees of Bogota Metro Line 1 in Colombia engaged in simulation training at a branch operation company of Xi'an Rail Transit Group.

In September 2023, the first group of 10 trainees from Bogota arrived in Xi'an to undergo a one-year training program on urban rail transit operation and management technology.

These trainees are all formal employees of the Bogota Metro. Although they studied different majors, their goal is the same: to comprehensively learn urban rail transit operation management.

"The training follows the 'enterprise + university' talent development model, with Xi'an Rail Transit Group jointly working with Xi'an Railway Vocational and Technical Institute to design the curriculum. During the initial three months, the trainees primarily focused on academic studies, and recently, they have been engaged in practical learning at the metro line network operation center. In the latter half of this year, the participants will undergo internships at various stations and trains." introduced by Deng Xiaojian, deputy general manager of Xi'an Metro Training Center.

Xi'an Rail Transit Group was able to successfully secure the bid to construct the Bogota Metro Line 1 project in 2019, in partnership with China Harbour Engineering Company. This is the first urban rail transit construction and operation project in the Americas that a Chinese company has participated in. It is also the largest single amount rail transit project won through international bidding. The project marks the first attempt of Xi'an to export its rail transit operation and management expertise.

Bogota Metro Line 1 is expected to officially open in 2028, with a total length of 23.96 kilometers. It will feature 16 stations, a depot, a control center, and three main substations. The project encompasses design, construction, supply, and operation, with a total contract period of 28 years and a contract value exceeding $5 billion.

Previously, Xi'an Rail Transit Group sent experienced management and technical teams to Bogota to actively conduct early-stage project construction and design work. An overseas rail transit professional talent training program was launched at the same time with tailored training plans. The program achieves new breakthroughs in promoting cultural exchange, talent development, and technology transfer between the two sides.

In the latter half of this year, a second batch of 40 trainees from Bogota Metro Line 1 will also arrive in Xi'an to undergo training.
