Want to check out this featured metro station in Xi'an? The first metro station in Xi'an built in a building——Yanminghu Station of Metro Line No.5 is expected to open by the end of September.

The station is located near Xi'an East Railway Station to the east, with Yanming Lake Leisure Park to the west, and it is the only elevated station in Phase 1 section of Line No.5.

The main structure of the subway station is already finished, and the overall project has entered the final stage.Actually, the Yanminghu Station is not like the internet-famous metro station in Chongqing ——Liziba Light Rail Station, where the trains directly pass through a high-rise residential building. Instead, the subway tracks at Yanminghu Station are neatly sandwiched between three high-rise residential buildings.

However, this design is pretty unique among other subway stations in Xi'an. The Yanminghu Station is a ground-level three-story side-platform station. Once in operation, the trains will pass through the surrounding residential buildings, offering a distinctive travel experience for the passengers.

The station is seamlessly integrated with the adjacent residential building, making it the first project in Northwest China to combine rail transit stations with housing and commercial development. It offers over 10,000 square meters of commercial space and is also the first TOD subway station project in Northwest China.

TOD, namely Transit-Oriented Development, refers to a development model centered around subway stations. It is a city development approach focusing on public transportation, further allocating residential, office, and entertainment facilities around public transit points. This model can help increase land value and utilization, currently more mature in cities like Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.

As the station staff introduced, this subway station will integrate various business formats such as dining, parent-child entertainment, leisure tea and coffee, beauty and makeup, SPA, music bar, small bistros, and so on, aiming to attract surrounding young customers.

The Yanminghu Station, a new model specially designed to combine transportation and commerce, will soon meet the public.
