The Jiucheng Palace was originally built during the reign of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty and later expanded by Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, becoming a royal summer retreat. It served as a residence for emperors and high-ranking officials, witnessing countless significant historical events. Legend has it that during his summer stays, Emperor Taizong Li Shimin would discuss state affairs with renowned ministers like Wei Zheng, leaving behind much wisdom on governance. This site is not only a historical relic but also a living history that tells stories from a thousand years ago.

The group of palaces, imperial gardens, and inscribed relics in the Jiucheng Palace all reveal the splendor of a bygone era. This place was once a gathering spot for literati to compose poetry and paint, as well as a venue for the royal court's grand banquets.

The calligraphy masterpiece "Jiucheng Palace Liquan Ming" was created by Ouyang Xun during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), around 1,400 years ago. And the stele that bears the inscription of this masterpiece is now preserved in Jiucheng Palace. Known for its elegant, beautiful, vigorous and powerful style, "Jiucheng Palace Liquan Ming" has been acclaimed as one of the most representative regular script inscriptions in China. In around 1,200 characters, it depicts the peace and prosperity of the Tang Dynasty, with a perfect balance of strength and flexibility.

In the evening, the media group watched the performance Jiucheng Palace Spanning a Millennium, a large-scale live-action show. The show is based on the thousand-year historical and cultural evolution of the Jiucheng Palace, and it vividly recreates the splendid scenes of the Tang Dynasty royal palace.

The innovation of technology and art is a major highlight of this performance. The chief director, Lei Peihua, employs modern audio-visual technology and customized water-screen projections to create an immersive viewing experience. As audiences enjoy the stunning visuals and sounds, they will naturally reflect on the spiritual connotations and historical significance behind the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty.

In recent years, Linyou County has made continuous efforts to protect cultural relics, allowing Jiucheng Palace to shine anew and become an important window for people to understand the history and culture of the Sui and Tang dynasties.
