Recently, the T5 terminal of the 3rd phase of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport passed inspection and is set to commence operations by the end of December, with the official opening planned for February next year.
After the completion of the 3rd phase expansion project, the airport will have 4 runways and 4 terminal buildings, capable of handling an annual passenger throughput of 83 million, a cargo and mail throughput of 1 million tons, and 595,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings. It will become a comprehensive transportation hub integrating air, rail, and road transportation, further enhancing the regional transportation hub status of Shaanxi and promoting local economic and social development.
The T5 Station Front Business District municipal infrastructure project is located on the east side of the T5 terminal, west of Tianyi North Road. As an important component of the external supporting facilities for the 3rd phase project of the airport, the construction content mainly includes 15 roads with a total length of 12.42 kilometers, 4.78 kilometers of elevated bridges, and 5.35 kilometers of underground ring roads, among others. The three-dimensional traffic system formed by the elevated bridges, ground roads, and underground ring roads will handle the passenger flow transfer function for the T5 terminal, GTC, and the station front business district, with an expected annual service capacity of nearly 100 million passengers.

A featured museum will be built in the terminal, making it the first airport museum located within a terminal in western China. The total area of the museum will be approximately 6,400 square meters. The core exhibition space is called the "Sifang Pavilion," and it covers an area of 400 square meters. The remaining approximately 6,000 square meters will be developed into a cultural heritage experience area, allowing visitors to gain deeper insights and experiences. The Sifang Pavilion refers to an official office in ancient China, primarily used for hosting minority ethnic groups and foreign envoys from around the world. The construction of this museum will enhance the historical and cultural charm of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport.
The completion of the project will improve the external transportation infrastructure conditions of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, enhance the airport's comprehensive support capability and service level, meet the continuously growing demand for air traffic, and assist in accommodating passenger flow needs.
