Xi'an shows great popularity for 2025 Spring Festival holiday

With less than a month remaining until the Spring Festival, marking the Year of the Snake in 2025, the tourism market in China has thrived significantly. According to the "2025 Spring Festival Tourism Market Forecast Report" released by Ctrip, Xi'an has secured three spots in the national top 10 rankings: "Top 10 Popular Destinations in China", "Top 10 Popular Destinations Among the 'Post-2000s'", and "Top 10 Family-Friendly Travel Destinations".

According to Ctrip's data report, the most popular destinations in China during the Spring Festival are Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Harbin, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Kunming, Xi'an, and Chongqing.

During the Spring Festival, outbound travel orders from Shaanxi surged by 69% year-on-year, while inbound orders rose by 75%. Key sources of tourists visiting Shaanxi include Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Guangzhou. Popular destinations for Shaanxi residents are Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, and Kunming. Hot scenic spots in Shaanxi feature Huashan Mountain, Hukou Waterfall, Taibai Mountain, Baota Mountain, Famen Temple, Longtoushan, Xinghan Scenic Spot, Zhashui Cave, Yinghu Lake Scenic Area, and Jinsi Gorge.

During the Spring Festival, the popular scenic spots in Xi'an are the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum (Terracotta Warriors), Xi'an Bell and Drum Towers, Huaqing Palace and  "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow" dance drama, Tang Paradise, Daming Palace National Heritage Park, Xi'an City Wall, Huaxia Cultural Tourism Resort and "Camel Bell Legend" performance, Xi'an Qinling Wildlife Park, Qujiang Ocean Polar Region Park, and "The Great Qin" performance.

With China's continued expansion of the "visa-free circle" launched in 2024, inbound tourism is expected to grow significantly, becoming the highlight of the Spring Festival tourism market in 2025. According to the data, the domestic destinations most favored by foreign tourists during the Spring Festival include Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing, Harbin, Chengdu, Xiamen, Zhuhai, Chongqing, and Hangzhou. Inbound travel bookings have surged by 203% year-on-year, with the main source countries being South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, the United States, Australia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Vietnam.
