At 11:30 on May 29, the Train Y29, carrying 234 passengers, slowly departed from Xi'an Railway Station and headed west toward Almaty, Kazakhstan, marking the inaugural run of the China-Central Asia cultural tourism special train (Xi'an-Almaty).
The special train will arrive in Almaty at 20:45 (17:45 Astana Time) on May 31. The return journey will depart from Almaty at 11:20 (08:20 Astana Time) on June 5 and arrive in Xi'an at 18:30 on June 7, totaling 10 days for the round trip.
The train adopts a "domestic section + overseas section" segmented transportation model. The Xi'an-Horgos section uses 25T-type carriages with a speed of 140 km/h, while the Horgos-Almaty section switches to 25G-type carriages for international combined transport. Railway departments of China and Kazakhstan will closely cooperate to ensure "one-stop customs clearance" for passengers.
After arriving in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the "1+3" Xi'an-Almaty Cultural Tourism Exchange Week will be held.During the Xi'an-Almaty Cultural and Tourism Exchange Week, China and Kazakhstan will jointly launch cultural exchange projects, featuring a bazaar with interactive activities, exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage, and traditional Chinese medicine. The event will also include cultural relics exchanges focused on Silk Road heritage, as well as sports and youth activities, such as friendly youth football matches, to strengthen people-to-people connections along the train route.
