On June 10, the China·Xi'an Kazakhstan Terminal for freight was officially put into operation in Almaty, Kazakhstan, upgrading the hub-to-hub connection with the Kazakhstan Xi'an Terminal (located in Xi'an).
At the Kazakh site, a ceremony was also held for the arrival of the inaugural China-Europe freight train (Xi'an-Jetysu, Almaty section).
The China·Xi'an Kazakhstan Terminal is a collaborative project between Xi'an International Inland Port Investment & Development Group and KTZ Customs Services Company. It spans an area of 147 mu (9.8 hectares) with a total investment of $62.1 million. The terminal serves four key functions: loading and unloading, storage, transportation transfer, and exhibition, as well as comprehensive office services. It is the first overseas terminal project built and operated by Shaanxi.
The terminal and storage yard spans 92,000 square meters and has an annual capacity designed to handle 115,000 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units). It features a 1.2-kilometer railway loading and unloading line, along with the ability to store over 1,100 standard containers. This facility is well-equipped to meet large-scale commercial and logistics demands and is set to become a "new pivot" for international logistics transportation between China and Kazakhstan.
During a press conference on June 10, hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Xi'an Municipal Committee and the Information Office of the Xi'an Municipal People's Government, Yang Bing, the Director of the Administrative Committee of Xi'an Chanba International Port, stated: "We will accelerate the construction of terminals in Moscow (Russia) and Baku (Azerbaijan) while actively planning projects for Budapest (Hungary) and Minsk (Belarus). Our goal is to promote the integrated layout of 'freight trains + overseas warehouses' and develop a professional, large-scale, and intelligent overseas warehouse service network."
