China has been continuously optimizing its visa, transportation, payment, and tax refund policies for overseas tourists, which has contributed to the growing popularity of "China Travel." According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, foreign tourist arrivals reached 7.3674 million in the first quarter of 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 39.2%.
To further enhance the travel experience for foreign visitors in China, Alibaba Group's Amap has officially launched a multilingual map service. Building upon its existing Chinese and English support, Amap has added up to 14 new languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Malay, Indonesian, and Vietnamese.
Overseas users can now download the multilingual version of Amap directly from the App Store and Google Play.
Earlier this year, Amap launched the first English-language map service in China specifically designed for overseas users, enhancing the travel experience for visitors. This multilingual version significantly broadens the service's language coverage, allowing individuals from more non-English-speaking countries to benefit from Amap's high-quality travel services.
The multilingual version of Amap features a localized interface and multilingual geographic information. It accurately displays locations across China and provides names and descriptions of attractions, restaurants, and hotels in the user's chosen language, helping foreign tourists quickly familiarize themselves with their surroundings.
Additionally, the multilingual version fully integrates Amap's core features, enabling international tourists to access the same driving, walking, cycling, and public transport navigation services as local users.
Simultaneously, the multilingual version incorporates the ride-hailing capability from Amap's English version. Foreign tourists in the Chinese mainland can book multi-platform rides with a single tap and easily access information such as pickup locations and fare details.
