Technology enlivens premium global heritage

On September 16, 2025, the World Internet Conference's Premium Cultural Heritage Digitalization Exhibition debuted in Xi'an, unveiling cutting-edge achievements from nearly 100 leading institutions worldwide. This exhibition highlighted immersive, interactive digital experiences that brought cultural heritage to life.

The exhibition is divided into four sections: ancient books, cultural relics, ancient architectural sites, and intangible cultural heritage, systematically presenting the latest advancements and applications in digital preservation.

The ancient books section spotlights cloud storage and restoration. The Xi'an Beilin Museum showcases precise digital and physical models of inscriptions. The Intelligent Service Platform for Chinese Ancient Books from the National Library of China offers cloud access to thousands of classics, while Shaanxi Normal University demonstrates AI restoration, underscoring digital technology's role in minimizing wear and enhancing accessibility.

The cultural relics section focuses on immersive connectivity, showcasing Sanshingdui artifacts in naked-eye 3D, high-definition "Digital Dunhuang" murals, and interactive AI-restored Terracotta Warriors. XR technology allows virtual exploration of the underground palace of the Qin Mausoleum. The "Cloud Silk Road," a global initiative involving 44 institutions from 18 countries, facilitates multilingual sharing of museum collections online.

The ancient architectural sites section demonstrates engineering prowess with 32 practical cases, utilizing Multimodal AI and 3D vision, high-precision mapping and naked-eye 3D interactions to enliven immovable heritage.

The intangible cultural heritage section showcases the blend of technology and craftsmanship, providing immersive and interactive experiences that seamlessly incorporate traditional crafts into modern life through the use of SR, VR, and Generative AI.

This exhibition showcases digital achievements as it embarks on a journey to innovate cultural heritage through the power of technology. It illustrates how digital tools enhance every aspect of cultural heritage preservation and utilization, paving the way for global exchange and learning.
