On October 15th, Shanghai Ranking Consultancy published the "Best Chinese Subjects Ranking of 2025." A total of 336 programs from 114 universities were recognized. Peking University and Tsinghua University led with 28 and 22 top subjects, respectively. Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University tied for third with 15 each, Zhejiang University ranked fifth with 13, and Renmin University followed with 11.

Sun Yat-sen University and Zhejiang University led with 63 and 61 listed subjects. Tsinghua University followed with 58, while Jilin University and Sichuan University had 57 and 56, respectively. Shanghai Jiaotong University and Wuhan University each had 55 subjects, Shandong University had 53, and Peking University had 52.

In the "Best Chinese Subjects Ranking of 2025," 26 universities in Shaanxi had 268 listed subjects, including 258 first-level and 10 professional degree categories. They had 75 first-class subjects, with 17 among China's top subjects and 9 as champion subjects, showcasing strong overall and specialized academic performance.

In Shaanxi, Xi'an Jiaotong University led with 41 listed subjects, including 40 first-level and 1 professional degree. It was followed by Northwest University with 30 subjects and Northwestern Polytechnical University with 29. Other universities with over 15 listed subjects were Shaanxi Normal University (28), Northwest A&F University (19), Xidian University (18), and Chang'an University (17).

Shaanxi Province boasted 17 of China's Top Subjects. Xi'an Jiaotong University led with 7, including 4 top-ranked subjects: Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, Forensic Medicine, and Nuclear Science and Technology. Xidian University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Northwest A&F University each had 3 top subjects, with 5 subjects ranked first: Cybersecurity, Information and Communication Engineering (Xidian), Materials Science and Engineering (Northwestern Polytechnical), and Soil and Water Conservation and Desertification Control, Plant Protection (Northwest A&F). Northwest University had 1 top subject.
