ChaHalo, a Chinese-style tea brand, announced on social media that it opened its first U.S. store in Rowland Heights, Los Angeles, and a second in Manhattan's East Village 10 days later.

ChaHalo was founded in 2016 and headquartered in Xi'an, specializes in artisanal cheese milk cap teas and fruit tea series. Its signature offerings include "Guihua Yin" (Sweet Osmanthus Tea) and "Qingmei Zhuma" (Green Plum & Bamboo Tea).

ChaHalo brings an unabashedly Chinese aesthetic to its U.S. stores—prominent "茶话弄" signage, a calligraphic slogan "Drink tea, chat, and chill," and oil-paper umbrellas and lanterns that mirror its China locations.

A relevant person in charge of ChaHalo noted, "New York's mature Chinese community offers an initial consumer base, helping us avoid 'zero awareness' abroad. Its status as a global commercial hub also allows us to test our profit model in developed markets and pave the way for future expansion."

The wave of new-style tea drinks has crested far beyond its origins in Southeast Asia, reaching distant shores from Europe to North America and Oceania. This global surge is positioning it as the next major trend in food and beverage globalization.

Chinese tea brands are brewing a global revolution. MIXUE, for instance, has expanded into 12 countries, boasting over 4,700 overseas stores following its April launch in Kazakhstan. Similarly, CHAGEE has grown its international presence to 208 stores.

They are not alone. Emerging Chinese brands like TIANLALA, which launched overseas in 2023, now near 200 international stores, while newcomer Molly Tea has already opened over 20 stores across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia since its 2024 debut.
