The State Council of the People's Republic of China has recently approved Yulin Yuyang Airport as an international port, making it China's 86th aviation gateway. Upon completion of inspections, it will become Shaanxi Province's first and Northwest China's fourth international feeder airport.
Yulin Yuyang Airport is the second-largest aviation hub in Shaanxi and the fastest-growing major feeder airport in Northwest China, handling over 3 million passengers in 2025. By developing 56 routes to 54 cities and optimizing its network, it supports high-quality local development.
Between 2018 and 2024, Yulin Yuyang Airport conducted four temporary international openings, operating 509 flights across 10 routes that carried 71,000 passengers. In 2024 alone, international traffic exceeded 25,000 passengers, meeting the threshold for permanent port status. These openings provided valuable operational experience and strengthened Yulin's international ties, supporting its foreign trade and cultural-tourism development.
Yulin is actively advancing its port infrastructure. The conversion of Terminal T1 into an international terminal is structurally complete, with inspection equipment plans largely finalized. The main structure of the international cargo warehouse is finished, and the joint inspection office building is ready for use. These upgraded facilities will ensure the port's efficient operation upon opening.
