The Xi'an Light Bulb Factory was established in 1970. As a state-owned enterprise, it was primarily responsible for producing electric light source products and urban lighting. The red-brick factory sat silent for nearly 30 years after production ceased in 1996. In early 2024, guided by urban renewal policies, it was reborn as Chang'an Times·Xi'an Light Bulb Factory. This place not only retains the red chimney and water tower but also features the nostalgic red-brick factory buildings. Old objects have also been transformed into unique artistic installations.
The renovation centers on the concept of a "local lifestyle gathering space." Adopting a "restore the old as old" approach, it aims to become an urban cultural landmark in the east with citywide influence.Chang'an Times·Xi'an Light Bulb Factory is built on three pillars—industry, community, and lifestyle—and features five distinct zones.
