On April 4, the "Rhythms That Nourish China, Hearts That Beat as One" National Mainstream Online Media Thematic Interview Campaign for the Bingwu Year, hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the CPC and organized by CNWEST, was launched in Xi'an. On the occasion of the Qingming ceremony honoring Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan, more than 60 journalists from 42 mainstream online media outlets across the country, as well as overseas Chinese-language media, gathered in Sanqin region(Shaanxi) to embark on a five-day cultural exploration journey.
Rooted in Shaanxi's unique cultural resources, the campaign focuses on traditional vocal and instrumental forms such as Chang'an Drum Music, Qinqiang Opera, Huayin Laoqiang, and Northern Shaanxi Folk Songs. The media group will engage in in-depth fieldwork and immersive experiences, uncovering and showcasing the vivid practices of Chinese ritual and music culture, as well as diverse vocal and instrumental traditions, in both historical heritage and contemporary life. The campaign aims to vividly present the evolving landscape of Chinese culture as it develops through transmission and thrives through integration.
Over the five-day itinerary, the media group will conduct research and interviews across Yan'an, Weinan, and Xi'an: at the Bingwu Year Qingming ceremony, they will join Chinese people at home and abroad in honoring the primordial ancestor; they will visit the Yan'an Revolutionary Culture Memorial Hall and the former site of the Lu Xun Academy of Arts and Literature to revisit the revolutionary red spirit and experience the fertile ground where traditional art and the spirit of the times intertwine; at the Huayin Laoqiang Heritage Training Center, they will experience firsthand the vigorous and unadorned singing style of Laoqiang artists, listening to the living heritage stories of this folk vocal tradition within local communities; at the Yisu Society and Hejiaying Village, they will feel the daily pulse of Qinqiang Opera art in contemporary urban neighborhoods, and listen to the thousand-year echoes flowing through the fingers of Chang'an Drum Music inheritors...
The resonant sounds of ritual and music, with their ancient charm, linger on. The journalists will diligently record with their pens and lenses, capturing the enduring echoes of vocal and instrumental traditions in the Sanqin region, bringing ancient culture to new radiance in the digital age, and contributing their wisdom and commitment to strengthening cultural confidence and rallying collective efforts.
