Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo opens, linking global tourism players

The 2026 Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo opened today at the Xi'an International Convention and Exhibition Center and will run until April 19.Since 2014, the Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo—China's first professional global expo dedicated to the "Silk Road"—has completed 10 successful sessions. It has hosted exhibitors from over 70 countries and regions, along with more than 30 Chinese provinces, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.

The expo has been growing in influence and reputation among global tourism industries, serving as an important platform for the high-quality development of tourism, and especially for exchanges, mutual learning, and win-win cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road.For the first time, the expo has expanded its global network to Africa by inviting Ethiopia as the Guest of Honor, forming a truly global cooperation pattern linking Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe.

This year's expo has two themed halls: Exchange & Cooperation Hall (Hall 1) and Industrial Integration Hall (Hall 2). It features seven dedicated zones covering the full cultural and tourism industrial chain, including international exchange, inter-provincial cooperation, Shaanxi tourism, integration demonstration, destinations, cultural tourism experiences, and tourism & recreational equipment.

From April 17-19, the expo's sub-events will feature a vibrant array of cultural and tourism presentations, scenic spot showcases, and themed activities on stages in both halls, presented by domestic and international provinces and cities.Across Shaanxi, 34 on-site events, including presentations, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and roadshows, will be held in key commercial areas and scenic spots.

This year, the expo introduces "Cultural Tourism + Technology" and "Cultural Tourism + Consumption" sections, featuring the debut of AI glasses, smart tour guides, and sightseeing vehicles. It also launches a first-ever dedicated zone for tourism equipment and recreational facilities, catering to needs ranging from outdoor travel to family entertainment.The expo is open daily from 9:00 to 17:00 from April 17 to 19, subject to on-site venue arrangements. Admission is free but requires advance registration (via the official WeChat Account '西安旅游博览会'). Visitors may also go to the venue directly and scan the on-site QR code to sign up.
