Xi'an expands global freight network with five new European air routes

Xi'an Xixian New Area Airport New City signed cooperation deals with multiple aviation enterprises at the recently concluded 2026 Routes Asia Conference.

Founded in July 2011, Airport New City covers a total area of 143.89 square kilometers and is one of the five functional zones of Xixian New Area in Xi'an. The other four functional zones are Fengdong New City, Fengxi New City, Qinhan New City, and Jinghe New City.

Upon the cooperation, Xi'an launched five new international all-cargo routes to Paris, Rome, Bergamo, Athens, and Barcelona, partnering with carriers including CMA CGM Air Cargo, Cargo Max Airlines, Georgian Airlines, and Geo Sky.Airport New City also secured two major airport-related industrial projects—the SINOTRANS Northwest International Air Cargo Transit & Distribution Center and SF Western China Airport Smart Intermodal Transport Hub.

Backed by a 120-million-yuan investment, the SINOTRANS center leverages the Xi'an–Paris route for 9610 e-commerce exports and international distribution. It aims to steadily increase the airport's cargo volumes while upgrading the region's cross-border e-commerce infrastructure.

A 30-million-yuan project, the SF hub combines transit, sorting, and settlement centers to provide smart warehousing and cold-chain services. It is designed to be Northwest China's premier high-end intelligent logistics park.
