2026 WIC Digital Silk Road Development Forum to open in Xi'an

The 2026 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum will be held in Xi’an from July 21 to 22, under the theme "Pooling Intelligence on the Silk Road, Embarking on a Digital Future — Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace". The forum will be hosted by the WIC and organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Government.

Focus on Core Topics to Build a Brighter Digital Intelligent Future

This event will host the Digital Intelligence for Healthcare Forum and the founding meeting of its working group. It will explore the application of intelligent technologies in smart diagnosis, precision medicine, grassroots healthcare and digital public health upgrades, alongside cooperation prospects for digital healthcare advancement, cross-party medical data sharing and mutual recognition, telemedicine collaboration networks, and unified digital healthcare standards.

Meanwhile, the Forum on Collaborative Innovation & Development of Intelligent Agents will be held, aiming to explore multi-agent collaboration, computing infrastructure and architectural innovation, technical paths for general AI, plus the R&D and real-world deployment of multi-agent systems in scientific research, industrial transformation and public services.

Forge Closer Ties to Advance Global Digital Trade Prosperity

During the Forum, the WIC E-commerce Committee will host a special session on Silk Road E-commerce cooperation and development. Focusing on AI-era e-commerce practices, it will gather governments, international bodies, e-commerce firms and specialists to discuss AI-powered e-commerce innovation, industrial growth and ecosystem building.

Focused on AI-driven digital trade, the Digital Intelligence Training Institute offers global officials, managers, and practitioners—especially from developing countries—briefings, case studies, exchanges, and field visits. The program enhances insight into digital and AI trends, strengthens governance and innovation capabilities, and shares replicable models to accelerate digital trade among Belt and Road partner countries.

Since its establishment, the World Internet Conference has trained over 500 participants from Belt and Road partner countries and Global South nations, providing talent support for their digital development.

Boost Mutual Learning to Build a Digital Base for Cultural Heritage Conservation

The Forum will host a session on digital-era cultural heritage protection, focusing on frontier trends and practical challenges, while fostering in-depth cooperation among international experts and scholars.

The Forum will also release the World Internet Conference Collection of Digital Cultural Heritage Cases (2026).

Confirmed guests include ministerial officials from Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Myanmar, Algeria, Angola, the Republic of the Congo, Guinea, Senegal, Zambia, Cuba, and Nicaragua; envoys from Morocco, Cuba, Sudan, and Tunisia; WIPO Deputy DG Wang Binying, IAGA(International AI Governance Association) Chair John Higgins, Ghana Dot Com Chair Nii Quaynor, Smart Africa Director General Latina Koné, and IPv6 Forum President Latif Ladid.
