2026 Xi'an Marathon is scheduled for October 18, with registration opening at 11 a.m. today. 

From 2017 to 2025, eight editions of the Xi'an Marathon have celebrated the city's warmth, creating countless shining moments on the track. Let's revisit those passionate running years through a selection of photos.

2017 Xi'an Marathon

The inaugural Xi'an Marathon, with a capacity of 20,000, drew over 40,000 applicants nationwide. Its unique route linked iconic landmarks from Yongning Gate to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda.

2018 Xi'an Marathon

That year, the event expanded to accommodate 30,000 runners, drawing more than 80,000 applicants from across the country. Professional event organization, efficient on-site support and thoughtful services earned the marathon widespread acclaim.

2019 Xi'an Marathon

Marking its third anniversary, the marathon grew increasingly influential with a 30,000-runner capacity and registrations exceeding 120,000 for the first time. More runners dreamed of taking part in the race. The Xi'an Marathon has become a stunning city calling card, showcasing an open, inclusive, stylish and vibrant new Xi'an.

2020 Xi'an Marathon

The 2020 race limited entries to 24,000, attracting 123,800 registrations. The route was revised, moving the marathon finish line from Daming Palace National Heritage Park to Qujiang Lake Heritage Park, incorporating more cultural relics and scenic sites.

2021 Xi'an Marathon

This edition, held in spring for the first time, came in the year of the 14th National Games, igniting a citywide and nationwide passion for sports.

2023 Xi'an Marathon

Registrations topped 140,000 in 2023 alongside a fully revamped route that finished at Xi'an Olympic Sports Center, the main venue of the 14th National Games. The new course winds through the picturesque Chanba Ecological District, fully demonstrating Xi'an's ecological progress and urban vitality.

2024 Xi'an Marathon

The 2024 race opened to 35,000 participants, with registrations surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Building on the previous year's layout, the revised route starts at Yongning Gate and ends at the Olympic Sports Center. This path running from history to modernity fully embodies Xi'an's profound history, ecological achievements and contemporary charm.

2025 Xi'an Marathon

The 2025 event set a record capacity of 38,000 runners and drew over 280,000 registrations. It allowed runners nationwide to experience the city's openness and inclusiveness. More than a sports feast for runners from all over China, the Xi'an Marathon serves as a vital platform to promote the city's image and boost local economic growth.
