Located 38 kilometers southeast of Yanchuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province, Qiankun Bend is like a huge natural Tai Chi picture above the Qin-Jin Canyon along the Yellow River. It is reputed as the most beautiful and spectacular natural landscape in Yanchuan County.

The Yellow River, the mother river of the Chinese Nation, rolls on and on  like a giant dragon  through hills and valleys on the Loess Plateau for 1.6 million years. The Yellow River has formed five S-shaped turns in Yanchuan County, namely Xuanwo Bend, Yanshui Bend, Fusi Bend, Qiankun Baend, and Qingshui Bend respectively from north to south.

With a turn of over 320 degrees, Qiankun Bend is honored as the "No 1 Bend of the Yellow River". At the 2018 China Yellow River Tourism Conference, Qiankun Bend was listed as one of the "50 Scenic Spots of the Yellow River in China".

Looking across from the Qiankun Pavilion, you can commend a fine view of Qiankun Bend, which is like a Tai Chi diagram. The pavilion is paved with stones in a pattern of Tai Chi, echoing with the Qinkun Bend in the distance.

On the left side of Qiankun Bay lies a shoe-like sand dune, known as the shoe island. The rare island along the Yellow River is a paradise for birds, with water birds flying around.  Equally magnificent is the Qingshui Bend nearby which is like a straw hat over the Yellow River.

The S-shaped Qiankun Bend encircles a lush mountain. Households under the foot of mountain are cooking, the cattle by the riverside drinking, presenting a vivid picture of life on the Losses Plateau.
